Rub My Head…Please!

One of the best pleasures in life is a scalp massage. You can give yourself a scalp massage, or have a friend or family member do it. Scalp massage can also be performed in spas, some hair salons or by massage therapists. Scalp massage is not only relaxing and enjoyable; it also has some health benefits. Some people use oils when doing a scalp massage. It can also be performed without oil for people who prefer not to get greasy or who have to go somewhere after the scalp massage.

I have not met one person that does not like their scalp massaged when getting a shampoo at a salon. It feels so good, what’s not to love. But aside from scrubbing all the dirt and oils out of your mane, the scalp massage you receive in your shampoo is also beneficial to the circulation of blood to the head and face. Increased circulation can promote healthy hair growth. I would recommend adding oil to your scalp massage to help to get rid of dandruff. The use of oil on the scalp can also help prevent new dandruff from occurring.

Scalp massage can help relieve tension headaches and migraines. If you suffer from tension headaches or migraines have whoever is giving you a scalp massage spend extra time on the base of the skull, near the hairline, since tension often accumulates in this area. It can also help to include a massage of the forehead and temples when massaging to relieve the headaches and migraines.

Scalp massage also helps those that have insomnia issues. It is so relaxing it can make you sleepy. After your good nights rest your body will be totally revitalized, which will improve your concentration for the day.

If you do not want to spend money on getting a professional scalp massage, try making your own oil and massage your own scalp. Below are the best essential oils to use on your head and scalp. You can even heat up your oil for more relaxation and added hot oil conditioning hair treatment for your hair. Remember always use with a carrier oil with your essential oils. I prefer olive oil, jojoba, & almond. In a bowl, you can mix a few tablespoons of your carrier with 2 drops of your essential oils. Great creative and make your own blend, its actually kind of fun!

Rosemary – This essential oil promotes hair growth and conditions the scalp.

Peppermint – This essential oil energizes you.

Coconut – This oil slows premature graying as well as thinning.

Olive – This carrier oil opens the pores on your head.

Jasmine – This essential oil can relieve stress.

Jojoba – This carrier oil repairs damaged hair and balances your own sebum.
