One of my favorite things to do is go to concerts; this year one of my goals on the blog is to share most of the concerts I go to. (And I go to many!) I am a huge fan of 80s music and now as an adult, I get to check out some of my favorite artists live. I recently went to the Adam Ant concert at the Empire Theatre in San Antonio, TX. Don’t know who Adam Ant is? Adam Ant (born Stuart Leslie Goddard, on 3 November 1954, in Marylebone, London) is an English musician who gained popularity as the lead singer of post-punk group Adam and the Ants and later as a solo artist, scoring 10 UK top ten hits from 1980 to 1983, including three No. 1s. After being hyped up by the opening act (Glam Skanks) for the concert, I was anxious to see the performance of now 62-year-old Adam Ant on stage. With his flamboyant pirate-themed wardrobe, unique facial expressions, and his connection with the audience, you could not help but stand and dance along with him as he sang his hit songs.

To think the newly formed band, The Ants was formed in 1977, and there I was 39 years later enjoying the music in my home town. Adam Ant’s current band had more of rock flare to all his hits compared to the retro-pop sound in the 80s. The Kings of the Wild Frontier tour featured some of my favorite hits such as, “Antmusic”, “Kings of the Wild Frontier”, “Stand and Deliver”, “Vive Le Rock”, “Cartrouble”, and of course… “Goody Two Shoes”. I was a bit disappointed I didn’t get to hear songs, “Strip” and “Place in the Country” but, we can’t always have it all and thank goodness for downloads.

Adam Ant like many long-time artists, performed straight through the evening without changing clothes, adding props to the stage, and gave it his all along with the band the entire concert. One of the reasons I love going to concerts is that great energy you feel when you hear music that you love, live. Seeing Adam Ant in concert was one on my bucket list that can now be scratched off. As Adam Ant’s song says, “Stand and Deliver”, and that’s exactly what he did and why the show was sold out. To learn more about Adam Ant click here.
