The W Austin Hotel, Austin Texas

A month ago I had the honor of joining The Pink Berets at the WeWork Creator Awards in Austin, Texas. (The Pink Berets is a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting women of the US Armed Forces and Veterans afflicted with invisible injuries such as PTSD, MST, and CTS.) Keeping in touch with a friend of a friend lead me to becoming a part of this wonderful mission and here I was in the heart of Austin supporting it with them. Though we didn’t win the award, just being there amongst so many creative people was an experience all on its own. The award’s events lasted about 2-days and was held at the Austin City Limits music venue. Since we had 2-days filled with so much to do, we stayed overnight in the Live Music Capitol of the World. Living just about an hour and half away from Austin, I visit for the day quite often or pass through it on my way to other cities. It had been a while since I stayed the night in the fun city and was especially excited to stay at the W Austin Hotel.

This my first time staying at the W Austin Hotel; when I walked in, I was a bit surprised at how lowly lit the lobby was. When walking through the hallways to get to our room, I kinda felt like we were in a scene from American Horror Story. We were exhausted from the events all day so we couldn’t wait to get to our room and relax. The room had two queen sized (comfy) beds which was perfect for the 3 of us for one night’s stay. Being out in the sun and doing a lot of walking, I couldn’t wait to take a cold shower. I love hotel bathrooms because they usually have the best showers and bathtubs. What I found odd about this one in particular is it only had a shower and no bath. What was really interesting was the location of the shower; it was right next to the sink out in the open with no curtain. Being that this trip was for business and the room was shared, a shower curtain was something we needed. We called the front desk and they sent someone up right away to put up a curtain.

What’s great about the W Austin Hotel is the location; its walking distance from most of the cool and fun spots.  The hotel has some really great amenities such as a gym, business center, outdoor pool and lounge, and a spa. This contemporary hotel is perfect for the business traveler, girl’s party weekend, romantic getaway, and someone that wants some time alone. The hotel is pet friendly and in my opinion, more adult than family friendly. I liked the early check-in and late check-out times but, I did think valet parking was a bit expensive. Good thing about traveling for business, you can always write that off. For more information about the W Austin Hotel visit their website.
