South Padre Island’s Sand Castle Days 30th Anniversary

Need some fun in the sun? Toes in the sand? Take a trip to South Padre Island and join 30,000+ fans to celebrate Sand Castle Days 30^th Anniversary! Sand Castle Days, one of South Padre Island’s premier annual events, will celebrate its 30th anniversary, Thursday, Oct. 5 – Sunday, Oct. 8. Master sand sculptors Walter McDonald and Lucinda Weirenga founded the event to showcase the magical sculpting qualities of South Padre Island’s sand and to raise awareness of the critical importance of protecting our coastal shores. Over the years, this family-fun event has grown from a local celebration to a qualifying event for the World Championships of Sand Sculpting where 30,000+ fans come to watch the sand come alive in the form of spectacular sculptures. Each year, master sand sculptors from around the country and abroad bring their artistry to South Padre Island for this unforgettable sand sculpture competition!
