Even us spa junkies that take care of clients on the daily need some relaxation in our lives. That is exactly what I did on my day off this week; I took a day off for some ME time and visited the Salt Cave inside the quaint Pure Sol Spa at the Embassy Suites by Hilton San Antonio Brooks Hotel & Spa. The one of a kind Salt Cave is esthetically a site to see and makes you feel as if you are far away in mystical world of ambience. When the spa attendant that checked me in explained how and what the treatment is good for, I didn’t think I was going to slip away into such tranquility that I’d fall asleep. Boy, was I wrong…
The huge amount of salt used in the Salt Cave creates a unique microclimate (the climate of a very small or restricted area) in the cave. The ion enriched climate in the cave is naturally absorbed into the body during your treatment. By inhaling the saturated air from the Salt Cave, it increases the important elements needed for good health for all ages. The cave itself puts you in a relaxing mood the minute you walk in. (Check out the video at the end of this blog.) My session in the Salt Cave not only relaxed me, but it made me feel as if I had gotten hours of sleep. The spa attendant covered up my shoes for sanitation purposes and seated me in a very comfortable lounging chair. She then tucked me in with a thick cozy blanket and left the cave so that I may enjoy my treatment privately. As I was reclined comfortably in my chair nice and tucked it, I took a few deep breaths, closed my eyes, and escaped from reality for a few. The ambient spa music was playing, and I couldn’t help but take in how lovely the experience was.
