I am always in search of educational places to take my nephews to when we go on our “Auntie” adventures. Recently, we were invited to take a tour and spend some time at the Science Mill Museum in Johnson City, Texas. I had no idea this museum existed but, when I found out it had 50+ exhibits of discovery, creativity, and hands-on learning, I was super excited to take the nephews along with me to check it out.
Our drive to the small town was a fun road trip; the museum is the heart of Johnson City and is adjacent to the Lyndon B. Johnson National Historic Park (101 S. Lady Bird Lane, Johnson City, Texas 78636). It’s very easy to find. What I liked most about the Science Mill Museum is how their exhibits were great for all different ages and how they touch on subjects like science, technology, engineering, art and math. My nephews had a great time exploring all the exhibits and took a small break to watch a 3D movie in the museum’s theater.
When I asked my nephews what their favorite exhibits were at the Science Mill Museum, they mentioned the Fossil Dig, Colossal Robotic Hand, Fractalarium, and the Wave Pendulum to name a few. The nonprofit museum opened in 2015 and is a perfect place to visit for all the family to learn and explore. What makes the Science Mill Museum special is how it recycles a historic community landmark.
