Southside Staycation -Embassy Suites San Antonio Brooks City Base Hotel and Spa
During the school year, it’s a bit more difficult to travel and go on vacations. A great way to take a break from your busy school and work week is taking staycations. (Staycation: a vacation spent in one’s home country rather than abroad, or one spent at home and involving day trips to local attractions.) The Embassy Suites San Antonio Brooks City Base Hotel and Spa is in my South side community and a full-service hotel. Perfect for a staycation.
I am an auntie to 3 nephews and staycations have become our way to spend time together, hang out away from home, relax, and indulge. I try to find staycation spots that have amenities great for my 3 nephew’s ages; 13, 5, and 3. The rooms at the Embassy Suites San Antonio Brooks City Base Hotel and Spa were perfect for us. We had a suite with 2 rooms; one room had a full-size pullout sofa bed for the teen. The other room had 2 queen beds; one for Grams and me and one for the 2 littles to share.
The staff was very welcoming and greeted us every morning on our way to breakfast. Restaurant 1917, inside the hotel served a full breakfast buffet. Eggs, bacon, oatmeal, variety of cereals, waffles, and even tamales were among our choices. (Starbucks products are also available.) After breakfast, we let our bellies settle and chatted in the patio area by the water fountain.
More Hotel Amenities
What’s a staycation without hitting up the swimming pool? The hotel pool is located at the back of the building which kept us in the shade most of the day. The nephews had a blast playing on the splash pad and splashing at each other, of course. The pool area has a nice patio area for the adults to sit and have a cold drink.
Speaking of cold drinks, the Embassy Suites San Antonio Brooks City Base Hotel and Spa has a really cool “happy hour”! After our swim, we headed back to 1917 for some complimentary appetizers, drinks, and a tasty menu. Complimentary happy hour is for hotel guests only but, 1917 restaurant is open to the public. After all the fun we had, the boys were ready to get into their pjs, play on their iPads, and relax. (The hotel has free wi-fi for guests.) On our last day at the hotel, we had salt cave appointments booked at the spa before checking out. Grams, the 3 nephews, and I had 30 minutes of Zen in the cozy salt cave all to ourselves. (Click to read about the salt cave.)
We are ready to book another stay at the Embassy Suites San Antonio Brooks City Base Hotel and Spa; it wasn’t far from home but, felt as if you were out of town. This is the South side of San Antonio’s only full-service hotel. It’s just minutes away from downtown and popular attractions like the Riverwalk and the San Antonio Missions. If you are looking to take a staycation, book your stay at the Embassy Suites San Antonio Brooks City Base Hotel and Spa. They truly have it all. For more information about the hotel; click here.
