My close relationship with the Texas coast began as a child. Lots of memories still come to mind when I visit. It’s been a year since the devastating hit of Hurricane Harvey. Rockport-Fulton is looking great these days. What helps the coastal town’s economy the most is your support by attending the events of the city. Here are some family friendly events to attend in September and October.
Aug. 31 – Sept. 2 – Labor Day Weekend Music Fest – It’s here. Kickoff party on Friday, Aug. 31, Fiesta en la Playa on the Saturday, Sept. 1 and Texas Country Sunday, Sept. 2. WHO’s READY to ROCK the PORT? LABOR DAY WEEKEND MUSIC FEST in Rockport. Free Concert on Friday is put on by the City of Rockport Parks Department featuring a local band, The Groove, followed by Rick Trevino.
Sept. 8 – Second Saturdays – Art Center Market – Downtown Rockport –Join in as the Members Gallery of the Rockport Center for Arts is set up outdoors with their fine art on the corner of North St. and Austin St. For more information, contact the Rockport Center for the Arts at 361-729-6445.
Sept. 8 “Tune in to Downtown” – Starting at 10am for Second Saturday, September 8th with special entertainment from 4-6pm. Enjoy the Art Market and Take a leisurely stroll through downtown! Play the Piano, Sip, Shop and Eat!
Sept. 13-16 – 30th Annual HummerBird Celebration – Come join in as thousands of Ruby-throated hummingbirds migrate through the area so do visitors hoping to get a glimpse of their whimsical, mystical aerobatics in the backyards of more than 30 homes and areas. The fall migration of all birds is spectacular. Starts Thursday with lectures, opening reception and dinner. It will continue throughout the weekend with lectures, boat trips, field trips, bus trips and two market halls call Hummer Malls.

Sept. 14-16 – Market Days at the Festival Grounds, Rockport Harbor – Join in on the fun and add your energy to Market Days at the Festival Grounds at Rockport Harbor. Enjoy live music, food trucks (seating under the shade for 48 people), and lots of merchandise. Market Days is pet friendly. It’s going to be Fall season fun! Sept. 22 – 23– Archeology and Early Peoples of the Coastal Bend – The exhibit will open at the History Center, 801 E. Cedar St., Rockport on Saturday, September 22 at 10am. Tours lead by the curator, Pam Stranahan, will be offered on Saturday, Sept. 22 at 11am and 1pm and on Sunday September 23 at 2pm.

Oct. 6- Butterfly Tour – 8 am. – 12pm – Garden Tours -Self-guided tour of private and public butterfly/pollinator gardens in Rockport, including a native plant sale at one of the locations. Texas Master Naturalists will be on hand to answer questions and conduct tours.
1pm. – 4:00pm -Butterfly Workshop -Workshop on the anatomy and life cycle of a butterfly, native plants for butterflies and pollinators, and types of butterflies in Aransas County. Oct. 11-14 – 44th Annual Rockport-Fulton Seafair at Rockport Harbor Festival Grounds – Grab your friends and neighbors, call your cousins and friends from a far and make plans to join us for the 44th annual Rockport-Fulton Seafair Celebration. This four day festival is sure to have something for everyone! Entertainment lineup includes Elida Reyna Y Avante – Thursday Night, Asleep at the Wheel – Friday Night, The Spazmatics – Saturday Night. Activities include live entertainment throughout the weekend, Saturday morning parade, Crab Races, Cardboard Races, Gumbo Contest, Kayak Race, CASA Chili Cook-off, Over 150 Vendors, Activities for Kids, Carnival, and Car Show.
Oct. 19-20 – Rockport-Fulton Shopping Tournament – It hilarious fun as teams of shoppers compete for the largest purchase, most purchased, best spirit, and more. More than 20 participating stores throughout Rockport and Fulton prepare for this shopping spree of ladies and gentlemen wanting to help support the Education Foundation, support our merchants and have a ton of fun! Oct. 21 – “Archeology Fair” – The History Center will hold an “on Sunday, October 21, 1-4pm to celebrate International Archaeology Day and join with the THC and TAS in promoting archeology in Texas.
