San Antonio is such a beautiful city with so much to see and do. During the opening ceremonies of the Confluence Park, San Antonio’s mayor Ron Nirenberg stated, “The South Side is rising again. The center of gravity of San Antonio is shifting ever-so-slightly southward.”

Here are 11 Southside San Antonio Tourist Attractions

1. Confluence Park– Confluence Park, managed by the San Antonio River Foundation, was unveiled on March 3^rd, 2018. It was originally scheduled for unveiling on January 17^th, 2018 but had to be rescheduled due to frigid temperatures. Their website describes the park as “a destination for learning and recreation, inspiring visitors while teaching environmental science and sustainability.” Confluence Park overlooks the junction of the San Antonio River and the San Pedro Creek. Three of the main features of the 3.5-acre park include the 6,000-square-foot BHP Pavilion, the Estela Avery Education Center and the Water Catchment System.
2. Medina River Natural Area– The Medina River Natural Area is a 511-acre nature preserve that features an array of recreation activities. There are 10 miles of trails for biking and hiking, as well as approximately 8 fishing spots. The preserve is a bird lovers paradise, with around 228 bird species that have been seen. There is also a large pavilion with 6 picnic tables and a large BBQ grill. And if that isn’t enough, there is also a camping area that features 6 tent pads, a pavilion with 2 picnic tables and a large BBQ grill, drinking water and composting toilets.
3. Mitchell Lake Audubon Center– Located just south of San Antonio’s downtown district, the Mitchell Lake Audubon Center is a 1,200-acre natural area, consisting of the 600-acre Mitchell Lake, 385 acres of upland habitat and 215 acres of ponds and wetlands. The center’s main focus is on bird conservation and education, with more than 300 bird species that have been spotted. While the primary focus is on birds, the Mitchell Lake Audubon Center is also home to an array of amphibians, insects, mammals and reptiles, as well as more than 120 plant species. 
4. San Antonio Missions National Historical Park– The San Antonio Missions National Historical Park is home to 4 Spanish frontier missions: Concepcion, Espada, San Jose and San Juan. During the 17^th, 18^th and 19^th centuries, these missions formed a colonization society in the Spanish Southwest. Spread across 948 acres, the National Park Service reported that there were 1,381,383 visitors to the park in 2017.
5. Texas Air Museum– The Texas Air Museum is located approximately 15 minutes south of downtown San Antonio, at the Stinson Municipal Airport. The museum was founded in 1999 by John Tosh, a veteran of World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War and the Gulf War. The Texas Air Museum is home to a large array of historical and unique aircraft, artifacts, uniforms, vehicles and weapons.
6. Yturri-Edmunds Historic Site– The Yturri-Edmunds Historic Site features an adobe-block house and an operational grist mill. The property was originally owned by Manuel Yturri Castillo, who received the land in 1824 from the Mexican Government. In 1961, his granddaughter Ernestine Edmunds passed the property to the San Antonio Conservation Society. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1996, while both the house and the mill were designated a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 1966.
7. Mission Open Air Flea Market– The Mission Open Air Market or better known as ‘King of Bargains” is 50+ acres and been in the south side of San Antonio for 28 years. Its located at SE Loop 410 & Moursund Blvd and open Wednesday 6am-5pm, Saturday 6am-5pm, and Sunday 6am-5pm.
8. Seersucker Distillery– Seersucker Southern Style Gin Distillery is in the far south side of San Antonio on 8501 Cover Road, San Antonio, Texas 78263. The tasting room is open Thursday – Sunday, 12:00pm – 7:00pm and tours are given on Saturdays at 1pm & 3pm. The distillery is available 7 days a week for private events and tours. 10. Blue Star Arts Complex– Home to several great art galleries, retail spaces, unique restaurants, The King William Historic Neighborhood, and better known as “Southtown”. Blue Star Arts Complex is at 125 Blue Star 6, San Antonio, Texas 78204.
11. The Greenline– The Greenline at Brooks is a 43-acre linear park that will connect the Southside mixed-use community to the San Antonio River, providing connectivity to 15 miles of walking, jogging and biking trails all the way through downtown and The Pearl up to Brackenridge Park. The Greenline offers a beautiful backdrop for you to walk your dog, play outdoor games, barbecue at the pavilions, or even bring your kids to enjoy the play structure.
