I attended the official grand opening of the Maverick Whiskey Distillery, craft brewery and restaurant at its Downtown San Antonio location at 115 Broadway Street on Tuesday, July 23, 2019. There were more than 280 guests on Tuesday evening at the grand opening.
The whiskey distillery is in the recently renovated historic Lockwood National Bank building. The birthday of owner and founder, Dr. Kenneth Maverick’s, 3x great-grandfather, Samuel Augustus Maverick (1803-1870), signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence- and Maverick Whiskey’s namesake was also celebrated.
We all enjoyed custom craft whiskey and gin cocktails, signature dishes, live music and exclusive distillery tours. Maverick Whiskey is a grain-to-glass distillery and brewery, crafting and aging its spirits onsite in the former bank vault below the first floor of the building. Spirits include Alamo Whiskey, Light Whiskey and Texas Dry Gin.
The downtown San Antonio whiskey distillery is open 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Whiskey and gin are available for purchase at the distillery as well as beer growlers and kegs. Spirits are priced from $40 to $55, and 32-oz cans of beer are $18.
